I make my excuses to the guy I’ve been talking to and restlessly shake his hand. My mind has already left him and my body wants to follow. Then I make my way towards Dora. She invited me here. Was she aware of this? Was this some kind of fucked-up set-up? On my way over, I accidentally crash into a chair, knocking it over. I apologise to the family seated there. As I continue on my way, Dora’s daughter, the owner of the play centre, eyes me warily. Well, she certainly knows. She stalks towards me, intercepts me.
‘You need to be gentle with Beth. She’s not had it easy.’
I snigger. Is she for real? My laugh isn’t quiet, so her parents turn around. They turn back to each other. I observe their mouths moving. Words. Wondering what’s happening.
I undo the first button on my shirt, feeling like I’m being strangled. Perhaps I need air? ‘I find out I have a son. I’ve missed out on three years of his life and you say she’s not had it easy.’
‘She had her reasons. Just give her time to explain. That’s all I’m asking.’
‘Well, thanks for your concern for your lying, dishonest friend. I’m seeing her later. We’ll discover what those reasons were. If I don’t like what I hear, I’ll be using my solicitor.’
Dora comes and stands alongside her daughter. She places an arm on her daughter’s shoulder. ‘What’s going on, Cam? Who needs a solicitor?’
‘Mum. It’s complicated. Leo is Trey’s father.’
‘Yeah, I worked that one out when I saw Beth go whiter than my legs are in December.’ She crosses her arms and fixes me with a stare. ‘Beth’s like a niece to me. She’s raised your son magnificently. Now yes, she’s not told you about your son for whatever reason, but it must be a good one because she’s an amazing woman. I hear you threaten her with a solicitor again and I’ll swing one of your own golf clubs at your kneecaps. Do you understand me?’
I step back in shock. The lovely woman who got me to come here has been replaced by a Rottweiler. I swear there’s foam in her mouth.

Once again Andie has written a smashing little novella. I have loved all four of these books and each time one has hit my kindle I've come over all excited. As one of the reviews above says, this book is a little more serious, but its got its lighter parts and still makes me laugh. I really hope there's more to this series in the future, having no more Dora would be a crying shame.

Rachels Review

I loved The Temptress so much I was afraid to read this book and it not live up to its awesomness (yet that's a word!). I should not have worried. This book was (in alphabetical order) amazing, dirty, hilarious, hot, romantic, sexy, steamy and totallyworthit! (yes that's a word also lol).

I must say I feel I liked it more that I did the Temptress. I'm brave and I'll say it! Hi, my name is Rachel and I liked All That Gliters better than The Temptress. There I said it, its out in the open and now I feel like I can move on.

Books like this are the reason I want to open a romance only books store. Imagine going to a place where you can gab to all the customers about your chosen genre of literature. Amazing. Id so have this as my book of the Month with a Charlotte Fallowfield display (maybe a shrine of some sort).

I seriously cannot wait for C.J's next book. I'm sure it will be amazing!

In the dark, I come to, my face plastered against the sofa cushion, an empty glass cradled to my chest. My phone is ringing. Wincing, I switch on the kitchen light, mentally preparing some choice vocabulary additions for my mum, just in case. I have two missed calls from Australia, along with the current one.

‘Kitten.’ This one husky word pulls taut invisible strings inside. If voices were a flavour, I’m sure Kai’s would be caramel. And despite earlier abstinence plans, I find I don’t mind being referred to as a feline by this man. ‘You do know the thing you’re holding to your ear is called a mobile for a reason, or are you avoiding me?’

I can almost hear his rancorously raised eyebrow down the line.

‘No, I like talking to you. You’re a pretty cunning linguist,’ I say with a giggle, then replay the statement in my head, surprised the words came out coherently.

‘Cunnilingus?’ Enunciated slowly, the word rings with salacious intent. ‘Are we talking dirty again?’

I don’t have a response. In fact, I can’t think beyond his mention of cunnilingus. The effect on my body is disconcerting, my knees requiring that I sit down.

‘I didn’t say that,’ I eventually answer, albeit a little breathlessly.

‘Don’t spoil my fun, I’m allowed to imagine.’ He laughs, the rich, seductive sound vibrating down the line.

And I like that he’s imagining. In fact, right now, I’d like to audition for a starring role in those thoughts. That I don’t answer doesn’t seem to put him off his stride, the words rolling down the line and straight to my lady-parts.

‘You’ve been on the sauce and that’s something I don’t need to imagine. Your face flushed with wine, lips plump with the taste of it . . . Tell me, did you enjoy a girly liquid lunch or are you drinking alone now? Drowning your sorrows and thinking of me, perhaps?’

‘I’m not lonely,’ I answer, realising this as true. Dubai hasn’t allowed me to be.

‘I thought you might be missing me.’ Forlorn. It’s like a sweater that doesn’t fit.

‘I had sundowners. Martinis.’ No need to mention the half empty bottle propped next to my arm. ‘Dirty. Like you.’ Crap. Did I just say that out loud?

‘And you like that, do you?’

‘Maybe.’ My fingertips jump and dance along the worktop as he hums down the line. It’s the best explanation I can come up with; a breath of appreciation that curls around my ear and shoots straight to my crotch.

‘Dirty from the girl who suggests cunn—’

‘Did not.’

‘It’s always good to know what’s on your mind. It’s even better when minds are synchronized.’

How pretty is the cover to this book! It's one case of when you can actually judge a book by its cover. I'm glad I never read the blurb about this book as, now I've read it, has a massive spoiler alert in there!

Just to let you folks know it was given this book in return for an honest review.

Rachel's Review

This was one of the loveliest books I've read. 

It had a nice gentle story line, I did pick up a nicer language theme also. Most alpha type books are 'fuck' this and 'shit' that. Yes, it did have swearing but it wasn't so in your face.

I loved the interaction between the two main protagonists. I also loved the tension in the book towards the end also, made for an excellent last quarter of the book.

A nice read and probably one to be added in to my re read section for the future.

Its taken me ages to finish this series. It been a horrendously busy time at work recently and my head has just not been it the game, plus I was ill :( sad time people, sad times!

Anyway I have been approached by the authors team for me to read and review this series. As always I have to tell you I was given this series in exchange for my honest review yada yada.

Adjournment

When I chose to leave home I knew what I was giving up. I knew I was walking away from life as I knew it and the plans that we had made. 

We…us…him and I… 

It’s funny to think of him in a different light…or life. 

That’s what it feels like, a lifetime ago. 

But I’m a different person now. I have rules and goals. And if it wasn’t for my parents' vow renewal I would have successfully evaded him for the rest of my life. This is not by choice, I can tell you that. 

I just need to focus and remember the key to this weekend is avoidance…and alcohol. But if anyone can pull that off it’s me, Sidney Chandler, queen of avoiding anything that will make me feel. 

It’s just one weekend, right? 

One very long weekend with my family…friends…my sisters and me…together, and our nemeses, the McAllister triplets. 

What could possibly go wrong? 

Everything.

Rachel's Review

So I really struggled through the first book. I didn't like the format it was written in at all. But I perseverred with it and I'm really glad I did. 

These books were a real mixture of romantic comedy, tense situations and intrigue. 

I'd never heard of the author before but that's why I love being approached by authors and street teams, so I can newness in my life :-) I'm so glad I gave Emersyn a chance and agreed to review. 

Give the series a chance. Feel confused by the first book but be glad the second book is already out to get some answers, then move on through books 3 and 4 to complete your journey.
