Monster in His Eyes - J.M. Darhower

My new book review is for Monster in His Eyes by J.M Darhower. I know this book is popular on most blogs at the moment and I'm not going to disappoint by missing it out of mine lol.

Synopsis-

Ignazio Vitale is not a good man.

I suspect it, the first time I see him, sense the air of danger that surrounds the man. He has a way of commanding attention, of taking control, of knowing what I'm thinking before I even do.

It's alarming and alluring. It's dark and deadly. It's everything I've ever wanted but the last thing I truly need. Obsession.

It doesn't take him long to draw me into his web, charming me into his bed and trapping me in his life, a life I know nothing about until it's too late. He has secrets, secrets I can't fathom, secrets that make it so I can't walk away, no matter how much I beg him to let me go. I see it sometimes in his eyes, a darkness that's both terrifying and thrilling. He's a monster, wrapped up in a pretty package, and what I find when I unmask him changes everything.

I want to hate him.

Sometimes, I do.

But it doesn't stop me from loving him, too.

Rachel's Review

I loved this book. Not an "oh my god!" love it, but still loved reading it.

I little more on the dark side than I'm used to but never the less I was rewarded for trying the book.

I want to write so many spoilers about this book, they're literally trying to burst out of me! lol.

I'd love to hear if other people loved it as much as me.

Rachel's Rating

I'd love to give it five stars I really would but I have my reasons why I cant.

So its a firm 4 stars ****

The Crystal Fragments Trilogy - M J Lawless

Time to review an older book. This one I've read a few times. Its a trilogy but all in one book.

Synopsis-

The Complete Crystal Fragments Trilogy.

When the heart is stronger than stone.

This brings together all three Crystal Fragments books into one volume. When Kris Avelar runs away from another failed love affair to an isolated cottage in Scotland, her desire to be alone is nothing compared to that of the stranger she meets: Daniel Logan. Tall, handsome, but also scarred by more than the marks which line his face, his attempts to push her away only inspire her to greater curiosity about him - a curiosity that will lead to dark and forbidden desires as she enters his private world.

As she discovers that this mysterious stranger is actually Daniel Stone, the charming and urbane founder of Stone Enterprises, she seeks to discover more about him - just as he becomes increasingly obsessed with her. Yet if Kris is the most perfect lover that Daniel has known since the death of his wife, she is not the first, and others will seek to come between the two of them and their happiness.

When Daniel is caught up by his own dangerous past, Kris sets out to save him and to show that while everyone else will turn against him, she is determined never to let him down - or let him go. It is at that time that she discovers that her own submission, what she has thought of as a weakness inside her, is actually the source of her greatest strength.

The trilogy includes:

Fractured Crystal: Sapphires and Submission
Fragile Crystal: Rubies and Rivalries
Refracted Crystal: Diamonds and Desire

Rachel's Review -

This book was just a random purchase. Its heavy going in places but overall I liked it. I read it as one book, not stopping when it changed into the next book.

I felt all the books flowed well and I got (as I usually do) completely involved with the main characters.

Id say buy it, read it and love it like I did.

Rachel's Rating -

4 stars ****

Alpha - Jasinda Wilder

So the first book I'm reviewing is Alpha by Jasinda Wilder.

Synopsis -

The first time it happened, it seemed like an impossible miracle. Bills were piling up, adding up to more money than I could ever make. Mom's hospital bills. My baby brother's tuition. My tuition. Rent. Electricity. All of it on my shoulders. And I had just lost my job. There was no hope, no money in my account, no work to be found. And then, just when I thought all hope was lost, I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of ten thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.," and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing…except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

If you receive a mysterious check, for enough money to erase all your worries, would you cash it?

I did.

The next month, I received another check, again from VRI Incorporated. It too contained a single word: "belong."

A third check, the next month. This time, two words. Four letters. "To me."

The checks kept coming. The notes stopped. Ten thousand dollars, every month. A girl gets used to that, real quick. It let me pay the bills without going into debt. Let me keep my baby brother in school and Mom's hospice care paid for. How do you turn down what seems like free money, when you're desperate? You don't. I didn't.

And then, after a year, there was a knock on my door. A sleek black limousine sat on the curb in front of my house. A driver stood in front of me, and he spoke six words: "It's time to pay your debt."

Would you have gotten in?

I did.

It turns out $120,000 doesn't come free.

Rachel's Review -

OH MY GOD! I loved this book. LOOOOVED it. I mean with a synopsis like that who wouldn't be enticed. I read it in just 2 sittings. I made time for this book. Pots got ignored, cats went un-petted and sitting through the 1000th viewing of Thomas The Tank Engine was not as bad as normal. Get it. Even if you don't think its your type of thing. Well worth a read.

Rachel's Rating?

5 well earned stars   *****
